Story Homes, a renowned housing developer with a significant presence in Cumbria, North West and North East England, as well as Southern Scotland. With a commitment to crafting homes that people aspire to live in, Story Homes consistently delivers over 1000 plots annually, operating seamlessly through its three regional offices.

In March 2017, JMAC entered the picture when the Story Homes Operational Department sought to transition from fall bags to a safety decking platform. Extensive research led Story Homes to select JMAC, considering factors such as cost, testing, infrastructure, and the ability to meet service level requirements. In the summer of 2017, the first story homes branded panels were introduced to their Brierdene site, in Newcastle.

Coming from a scaffolding and operations background meant we could provide the group with an all in one solution offering a first-class service across all regions. Leveraging industry expertise, JMAC collaborated closely with the Story Homes production team, identifying complex house types, providing designs and calculations, and coordinating with on-site scaffolders. A ‘Story Homes Specific’ operations manual was created, tailored to each house design, guiding the Story Homes team in managing Macdeck materials effectively.

JMAC also actively participated in Story Homes HSE days, with our Managing Director and Branch Manager delivering training to site managers across regions. The initial service rollout spanned 10 sites and expanded to 31 sites across three regions. JMAC supervisors conducted weekly inspections, adhering to a stringent QC process, and providing continuous support to address any challenges that arose along the way.

The collaboration between JMAC and Story Homes reflects a partnership between like-minded brands, both dedicated to delivering excellence in the construction industry. As JMAC contributes to the safety of Story Homes’ workforce with solid working platforms, the assurance of a secure working environment eliminates the risk of falls. The ongoing relationship between the two entities is poised for further strengthening in the future.
