Elevating standards and ensuring public safety at Darlington Railway Station

In a dynamic collaboration with Pro Rail Services and SEP Culant, JMAC Scaffolding showcased its professional expertise in a major project at Darlington Rail Station.

Having successfully navigated the rigorous RISQS audit earlier in the year, we promptly translated our accreditation into action.

Our expert commercial scaffolding team not only oversaw the erection process but also ensured that the scaffold aligned meticulously with the design. This dual focus guaranteed not just structural support but also stood as a testament to our commitment to high-quality workmanship and professionalism, showcasing the core values that define JMAC.

In close partnership with Pro Rail and SEP Culant, and in collaboration with LNER, our role in this prestigious project involved constructing raking shore design scaffolds. This specialised approach addressed structural damage within the station walls. Throughout our works, public safety remained our paramount concern.

Anticipating a 12-month tenure, these scaffolds facilitated ongoing monitoring and remedial work, showcasing our dedication to both precision and longevity in our solutions.

To ensure public safety at an open railway station, we meticulously adhered to specifications outlined by NASC and SG35, employing a survey-specific risk assessment and method statement. These measures were meticulously mapped out in line with NASC and HSE standards, and we collaborated closely with local authorities to ensure that every step of our operation adhered to the highest safety protocols.

A number of pre-start meetings were held with all parties including LNER, Pro Rail, SEP Culant and JMAC – ensuring all highlighted functions and steps in the process were cleared and covered before works could commence.

We worked in collaboration with pro rail services and LNER to organise specific night shift working on the internal of the West Elevation as it is a heavily populated pedestrian walkway. We also incorporated public protection into our design over the walkway to ensure safety to the passing public at all times.

JMAC installed physical barriers with signage during all works and had an non-working attendant on site at all times to ensure works were always being done with the public safety as number one priority.
